SHELTON,
KAVANO AND MORRISON FEATURED AT MIDDLE BASS BENEFIT
On Saturday, July 17, the School Board will begin a week long Fine
Arts Fest with another music Benefit Gala at the East Point Stone Manor. Funds
will be contributed to the Middle Bass EMS and the Town Hall.
A Candlelight event begins with wine and cheese on the lakefront and is
concluded with a dessert buffet. Information can be obtained by contacting
Shanny O’Rourke (285-2003) or Eddie Sheller at the General Store.
Obie Shelton is a blues gospel violinist who is a newscaster on Channel 3
in Cleveland. He has performed with the Ohio University Symphony, the Akron
Symphony, and 2000 Gospel Celebration in Chicago. He has been a news reporter
for 25 years.
Pete Kavano is a professional guitarist in Northern Ohio. Dave Morrison is
a professional rock/jazz/blues harmonica player. He has recorded with his own
band “Aces and Eights.” Rob Johnston, Elyria String Trio, and Susan Hisey
(harpist) will also participate.
MIDDLE BASS FEST FOCUS ON MULTICULTURAL
Art and Music classes for children begin July 19 in the School
House. Adult painting classes and rehearsals of the Island Choir will also
begin on the 16th. Jim and Cheryl Mravec will again be on the art faculty and
Bernadette Hisey will teach the children’s music.
On Sunday the 25th, over 50 dancers and musicians representing 8 American
cultural groups will perform in costume at 2:00 p.m. Art exhibits will be on
display in the School House, in a 40 ft. tent, and cultural displays in the Town
Hall.
