Boat Crashes into/onto Mouse Island Again
click for the full story from the Toledo Blade, July 7, 2006
The Ohio Division of Watercraft charged Keith Brown, 54, of Fort Lauderdale after his 41-foot Tiara cabin cruiser struck the east side of Mouse Island, went onto the beach, and landed in a clump of trees Monday night, July 3.
This picture was taken on July 4th, 2006. The last time there was an accident like this on Mouse, about two years ago, it also happened at night. It's easy to overlook Mouse Island at night.
Note added 7/11/06: The Toledo Blade article states that the boat struck the west side of the island. It actually struck the east side; the boat is pointed northwest. Although the owner is from Fort Lauderdale, he is the son of the owner of the "Castle" in Vermilion. Two sources also informed me that the boat was brand new and not yet insured.
Also see Jack's take on this in the second image on the humor page. That image can also be accessed directly here.
