Maclin Earl Richardson1930-2005
Maclin (Mac) E. Richardson, 75, resident of Middle Bass Island, OH and Boca Grande FL, passed from this life on July 12, 2005 at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Toledo OH. The youngest of 4 children, he was born on July 5th. 1930 in Muskogee, OK to Edward and Nettie Richardson. Mac became self sufficient at an early age and his experiences growing up taught him the virtues of perseverance, and honesty, values he maintained throughout his life. After graduation from Muskogee High School in 1947, Mac proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a crewmember aboard PBY aircraft and in FASRON 117 during the Korean War. Following his service, Mac attended Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He graduated in 1957 and on July 5th, 1958 he married his college sweetheart, Carol Adams of Lakewood OH. Mac returned to Baldwin Wallace in 1964 as Director of Financial Aid and Admissions before joining Case Western Reserve University in the same role. He was also the first President of the Ohio Association of Financial Aid Officers. In 1975, Mac founded Private School Aid Service Inc. (PSAS) of Westlake, OH. Following retirement from PSAS in 1998, Mac and Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their summer home on Middle Bass Island, OH, and in the winter months at their home in Boca Grande, Gasparilla Island, Florida. Mac was most comfortable at the wheel of a golf cart at either location, and he enjoyed seeing friends, home improvement projects, and visits with his 5 grandchildren, He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Richardson (nee Adams), son Matthew (Mary Jane) Richardson of Montville Township, OH and Kathryn (Thomas) Bilski of Westlake, OH. Grandchildren Leah, Mac, Maria, Nadia, & Rhett and sisters in law Onlee Borglund of Rancho Bernardo, Ca. & Wilma Richardson of Oklahoma City, OK. Brothers William Borglund, Edward Richardson, & Donald Richardson, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at McGorry Brothers Funeral Home, 25620 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, OH, Friday, July 15th 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., followed by a short funeral service at 8:00 pm. On Monday, July 18th an additional funeral service will be held at the Middle Bass Island Town Hall at 11:30 am. Interment to follow. The family requests that gifts in Mac’s name be made to Baldwin Wallace College Scholarship Fund, 275 Eastland Road, Berea, OH 44017.
