CommentsThis is a VERY professional and straightforward site and has alot to offer! I have alot of history with this Island as my Grandfather used to own a cabin on East Point from about 1972-1993. His name is Richard Strubbe....... Nice to see something for a place that's always had a special place in my heart and given me alot of memories! Keep up the great work! Andy Evan Strubbe Cuyahoga Falls,Ohio

CommentsJust finished checking out several of the links within the website. You've done a really great job designing and putting it together. We are owners of a villa at St. Hazards and have been there since 1998. We look forward to spending as many weekends as possible up there to relax and enjoy the island. Tom and Connie Perney, Sagamore Hills, OH
CommentsI love this web site. Middle Bass and Lonz winery have been a part of my life for over 30 years. I am interested in the future of the winery, and if I will be able to visit it again. My family also enjoys running the 5k race. Will it still continue? We usually stay on our boat at the public docks. Are they going to improve the marina? Thanks for all of the great information about the island!!

CommentsWe are planning a summer family vacation - your web site made it easy to find out more information. Thanks!!
CommentsWith this page we are way ahead of the big boys, I guess we always were. Congratulations on a job well done. Each year at this time, my blood becomes a little more like Lake Erie and a little less like the Gulf of Mexico. In Florida I am considered a Snowbird and at Middle Bass I am a Summer Person. When I grow up I hope I will belong somewhere. Keep up the GOOD work. Gene Morton Middle Bass, Summerperson
CommentsMark & Lisa Morton, Naples, FL Great Site! Makes us feel like starting our vacation a little early - like NOW! Hello to all of the "MORTONNESTERS".
CommentsWe had our first overnight stay at the islands last summer, at the Middle Bass Inn and enjoyed it soooo much that we are headed back again this summer in August. In time we would like to have a summer trailer to stay in, on the lake, to make this a weekly event in the summers to come. I hope Middle Bass Island continues to stay peaceful and does not become over-developed.
CommentsGreat web site! I can't wait to go up this summer. Lynn - Brecksville,OH

CommentsThis site is great. However, there is a problem with the Fine Arts Festival page. When I try to download a page to register for classes, my computer shuts down. Please advise, how do I register for classes? Maureen Meck meck.1@osu.edu
CommentsDiane M. Rudnik, Wyoming MI The is a GREAT web site. Thanks to Ruth Rudnik for letting me know about it and Mike for helping create it. I can't wait to come back next month to the island. It's a beautiful place.

CommentsThis is a terrific web site! Keep up the good work! I have never been to the islands myself but, I have heard so much good things about them through my father, Ted Malicki of T.M Roofing & Maintenance. My father frequents the islands often. The islands are his home away from home. My father speaks well of the people. He has made quite a few friends too!!! I can't wait to get there. See ya soon! Miss Kelly D Malicki, Seven Hills, Ohio
CommentsThanks for a great web site. I'm very interested in the history of the Lake Erie Islands. I'm sure I'll be in your history pages a great deal in the future. My wife and three daughters make numerous trips to the islands every year. We love it.

CommentsAs an isle resident on East Point, I very happy to see the isle growing and improvements being made. The airport, EMS/fire station are fine examples that are positive moves for the residents and visitors. The unfortunate auto deaths that happen recently could possible have been avoided if two things could have been in place... (1) street lights along the main roads on the isle and (2) post a speed limit of say 30/35 MPH. Fox Rd. isn't wide enough to hanhle 55 MPH traffic. Don Paul East Point
CommentsI am really intrigued by all the lake erie islands and am looking forward to the new devolopements of the state park system on middle bass island. However i do hope that there is more commercial developement as well, not to much, but you must have some attractions to draw tourists to your island. if it is done properly i think residents, merchants and visitors will all benefit from that.

CommentsImmediately, a bike/walking path from the Ferry Dock to the airport along Fox road should be included as a responsibilty of our township and it's partnership with the new Middle Bass State Park.
CommentsWhat happened with that woman? She was killed by a driver while walking with here husband. The killer also killed a guy on a bike. Is he at least in jail? or is it some 'island' deal where they cover it up?
CommentsSee the discussion board for a continuation of the discussion started in the previous posting.
CommentsCool Site so far I am still going through it, but I can see it will continue to impress me. My wife and I spend time on middle bass every year, Normally in a villa at Hazards. We will be on the island this week Thursday through Sunday. Rick Casey Shelby, OH
CommentsWe will be visiting this weekend and have thoroughly educated ourselves about the island from the use of this well thought out and informative site. The only things that frustrated me were the lack of dining information (with price range) and the lack of information about on island fishing. Where, how much, private rentals available, etc. I am SO looking forward to bringing myself and my 4 boys (17,12,10 and 8) for an exciting 5 days! Thank you for tackling this will prepared job! Susan, Johnny, Adam, Travis and Joshua Finney
CommentsI would like to see a map of all the islands in the area.
CommentsWow, what a nice site!! I can't begin to tell you how much I miss Middle Bass. I worked for Tom Kromer, come on, you remember him..., the Chicken and Ribs Galore guy LOL, at the winery for many years with my husband Joe and my sons, Carl and Greg. I was trying to find camp sites for a co-worker and found this site. The pictures bring back great memories and now some sad ones...Joe and I had some great times midnight swimming with Tim C. and all the winery people...what a shock it was to hear Tim was gone. We think of you often Judy. It's a shame that the mansion is in disrepair...I hope they restore it, instead of tearing it down. Thanks to webmaster here, you made my day. Makes me want to go home and rummage through my Middle Bass pictures for more good memories. Carla Miller - Lakewood millers22@msn.com
CommentsI would like to see more pet-friendly beaches in Ohio. Dogs like to swim too and people that take thier dogs with them always clean up after them. In the new state park why not put in a dog-friendly beach so everyone can enjoy the park! T. Lewis Urbana, OH
CommentsI really enjoy this site - so much history! I have been going to MBI since I was 1 - I'm 38 now! Our family owns a cottage in the west point Mibble Bass Club. I have so many great memories of this place. When I was little, and the island less inhabited, my parents would set me off for the day sporting a life preserver because I was usually found down by the rocks or at the ramp!
CommentsMiddle Bass Island has been our summer Paradise for more than 40 years (We are the parents of the 38 year old who was sent out to play in a life jacket). Our cottage is over 100 years old and on the West Point of the island in the Middle Bass Club Assn. We have enjoyed many good times with our family sitting on our porch watching the sunsets. And God willing we will enjoy many more. The Middle Bass website is wonderful, well done and enjoyable for all who love the island. Joan and John Whitney, Berea, Ohio
CommentsYour site literally made me cry. I lived on Middle Bass in the 1960's and spent several summers there with my grandparents, Vi and Sid Runkle, after my family moved back to the mainland. My grandparents owned the Shop at the Dock for years and my great aunt, Thelma Schneider, was the postmistress. My family owned what was then called "Eula Dale Lodge" out on East Point. My parents, Margaret and Oral Kaufman, rented cottages and boats in the summer, ran our store/gas station year round, and ran an ice fishing guide service in the winter. My dad also did construction and built the brick gatehouse for Burgundy Bay. Folks can't believe it when I tell them I attended a one-room schoolhouse and I was sorry to see it close. I'll always be an islander in my heart, if not in my genealogy! My great-great grandparents, the Kaphengst's, are buried in the cemetary, and my great grandmother was raised on the island, so my roots go way back. I will visit this site over and over again. Thank you so much for a wonderful gift! Colleen L. (Kaufman) Carney 1223 Old Fort Rd. Moncks Corner, SC 29461 ccarney@berkeley.lib.sc.us

CommentsI just came across this site. it is wonderful. My connections are with North Bass Island. I hope to make a trip up there in the summer of '02. My Mother was born and raised on North Bass until she was 14. She then went on to Oberlin High School, graduated from Oberlin College and then got her MA from Western Reserve University in 1936. CommentsI have been a visitor to the island for many years and have seen the tragedies and triumphs I hope and pray one day that i will have the opportunity to become a permanent resident of the island and help the constant fight you have to keep the natural beauty it displays.
