I was just sent this site by a cousin, and what a site, you have worked hard and long. All this old information is so interesting. As a child visiting my grandparents The Kuemmels, you thought nothing of it being so beautiful Island. I was brought up on Put in Bay, but lived most my life in Arizona, but still run back to visit those beautiful islands.

Great website. How many homes were lost to the new airport construction? Looks like the Murd home may be gone. I spent many years visiting the island. Worked at the winery in the 80's. Just doesn't look the same. Pray that the winery is restored to all its beauty!

Thank you for sharing pictures of the "Storm on Nov. 13, 2003." We have witnessed effects of Mother Nature's wind from the west doing its thing. We have never seen Mother Nature when the "road from the Burgundy Bay marina to Sugar Island" was so inviting: http://www.middlebass.org/images/wIMG_1347.jpg It looks like "the parting of the Red Sea." With proper safety gear, it would have been an interesting adventure to take the road.... Jim & Marianne (guests on Driftwood Drive)

Wonderful photos of the Luau (Ice Party) Feb. 13, 2004 and Ice Fishing Tournament Pictures, 2/14-15. The photos make those "stuck on the mainland" jealous, and longing for the resumption of Miller Ferry service to Middlebass. Jim & Marianne Frequent visitors on Driftwood

My book, The Dynamic Great Lakes has been re released with updated information in a "Critically Acclaimed" edition. Seems that folks like the book, especially those interested in fishing. Of course Lake Erie is an important part of the book that includes all of the Great Lakes and their fish. Barbara Spring http://www.geocities.com/barbaraspring

Even though I moved to a large island (Australia), I still miss the great summers I spent on MBI with my uncle (Tom Lee) and the whole family. Have a great 2004! I'm hoping to visit this year. Patrick Morrissey, Sydney, Australia

Thank you for this informative site. I almost made the mistake of staying on South Bass and learned that it just wasn't my style. I am looking forward to staying on Middle Bass. Although I have never been there, I will not feel like a complete stranger thanks to this site. In the future, it would be helpful to explain exactly how you suggest tourists get around the island. Miller Ferry is more than happy to take your car, but is that really necessary?

I love the site - it's very well organized and professional. South Bass has an island newspaper and there are sometimes little articles about Middle Bass but for he most part we are left out. I like to know what is happening on my island which I'm very proud of - it's a great place to come with your family and kick back and enjoy the old fashion way life used to be
